T1 Voice or T1 Over Voice
Voice T1 Rates low as $.01 billed in 6 or 1 second
increments
A T1 voice line is a high-speed digital telephone connection that
provides voice service to the network. Used primarily for businesses, the T1 transmits at speeds up to 1.544 megabits per second. This
speed is faster than most standard modems. T1 for voice allows you to take advantage of this large bandwidth.
A T1 over voice has 24 channels. Each channel can be used for a voice connection. The channels are flexible so that they are used only
as needed and then return to the line pool. This allows you to have much fewer lines than before.
A business with average telephone usage can utilize one T1 voice line for every 50 to 100 people. Businesses with above average phone
usage may need two T1s or more.
T1 over voice offers digital voice connections with clear, crisp sound. Most central offices are now fully digital, making the digital
lines more appealing than analog lines, which would need to be converted. T1 over voice is a cost effective phone service. The T1 can
take the place of many standard lines that can now be removed. In fact, T1 over voice has come down in price, making it the cost savings
even greater.
A T1 is brought into the premise on a smart jack. The T1 is then extended into the telephone system. Some areas require the use of
a CSU as a connection point. This helps to diagnose where the problem lies if the T1 encounters trouble.
T1 voice circuits are very reliable, however. Once installed, the T1 rarely has difficulties or goes down. If it does, remote
diagnostics can often quickly get the T1 back in service. Use a UPS on your CSU to ensure that it stays up in the event of a power
failure.
T1 voice circuits provide both incoming and outgoing call access. You can route your main business telephone number over your T1 as well
as a bank of DID numbers (direct inward dial) that can be assigned to users as their personal lines.
The flexibility, speed, reliability and cost efficiency of the T1 make it the perfect choice for many businesses. Whether you are just
starting out or have a large established business you are sure to enjoy a cost savings by using a T1.
