What happens is that a company has its own PBX or Private Branch Exchange which is like its main telephone system. This PBX controls all calls of the company. With SIP Trunking, a company will be able to control the properties of these calls made.
Let’s say an employee of a certain SIP provided company calls a regular cellular phone number. Regular phone numbers such as the one used in this cellular phone is called a PSTN or Public Switch Telephone Network number.
What happens when a SIP provided company calls a PTSN number is that the IP of the outgoing call is adjusted to be able to mimic the properties of this PTSN number.
