Long Distance Business Plans

Business Long Distance Plans - Guaranteed Lowest Rate Program

Every business, regardless of size, should have a long distance business plan in place.  This plan should cover all the telecommunications current and future needs of the company and should be updated at least annually.

Start by evaluating your current long distance usage.  This information may come from your telephone bill.  If your bill is not detailed you can ask for more detailed information or a report from your vendor.  Look for the total amount of minutes of long distance used each month.  Next, look for trends in long distance calling.  You may see that calls increase during a certain time of day or day of the week. There also may be specific area codes which are called more often.

Use this information to find the long distance plan best suited to your needs.  Figure out what your actual costs are.  Take into account any maintenance or repair charges that you may have incurred.  Think about your company’s phone usage throughout the year.  Find trends that may increase business long distance plan requirements such as holiday seasons.

Always consider company growth in the long distance business plans.  While you may be at or close to capacity on your current long distance circuits don’t forget about increase in usage.  Typical telecommunications plans consider 5 to 10 percent growth coverage at peak times.  Don’t wait until the growth has occurred to add lines or equipment, as your customer service will suffer.

Finally, always look at new options.  Technology is always changing.   As technology becomes standard the prices often go down making it more affordable even to small businesses.  Talk to a representative who can give you options to consider before making a change.
