"From Zero To DS1 In 60 Seconds"
In researching your telecommunication service options, you have probably come across the terms DS-1 and T-1, but what do these really mean to
you?
In reality, the DS-1 and the T-1 are interchangeable. Both are digital signal transmission lines that simultaneously transmit and receive
digital signals up to 1.544 megabytes per second (Mbps).
This is the equivalent of 24 phone conversations going at at once. Yet, while that much information might be constant chatter in the
background of the human brain, the DS-1 keeps these "conversations" all in perfect, synchronized order for your data and voice delivery
needs.
To break it down even further, it might help to look at one explanation of the DS-1 vs. T-1 designation. In some cases,
DS-1 is the term used to describe the "internal" data and telecommunication lines, while T-1 is the name given to those same, exact lines once
they leave the immediate vicinity of the office.
This is only a short explanation, brining you from zero knowledge to DS-1 in under 60 seconds. But the reality of DS1 speeds are far greater
than that!
